Companionship That Keeps the Days Full

For many older adults, the hardest part of ageing at home is not a task — it is the quiet. Our senior companion care begins with genuine company: someone who arrives when they say they will, remembers the stories, and makes the day feel less empty. We sit together over tea, work on a puzzle, sort through photographs, take a slow walk around the neighbourhood, or simply talk about how the week has gone.

For families living at a distance, that steady presence is often the most valuable part of the service, because it gives you a trusted set of eyes and ears on the ground. Companionship does real work, too: regular social contact is linked with better mood, better appetite and a lower risk of falls.

Practical Support Around the Home

Alongside companionship, we help with the everyday tasks that quietly become difficult. Everything we do is non-medical and focused on comfort, safety, and a home that still feels like home.

  • Grocery shopping and errands
  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Light housekeeping and laundry
  • Home organization and de-cluttering
  • Prescription pickups
  • Mail sorting and gentle reminders
  • Pet care and feeding routines
  • Companionship and conversation

Getting Out and About

Staying connected to the community matters, and getting there is often the hardest part. We provide accompanied transportation to medical appointments, the pharmacy, the grocery store, the bank, church services, hair appointments, social clubs and family gatherings. We stay for the appointment, take notes if you would like, and make sure your loved one is home safely and settled afterwards.

This is where our nursing background is quietly useful. We are not providing medical care, but we do notice changes in mobility, appetite, mood or memory — and we tell you early, rather than after the fact.

Respite for Family Caregivers

If you are the one who does everything — the calls, the driving, the meals, the worry — you deserve a break that does not come with guilt. Our respite care gives you a few hours back: an afternoon to rest, a full day at work without your phone buzzing, or a week away knowing that someone kind and capable is keeping the routine exactly as you would.

We follow your instructions, keep your routines, and send a short update after every visit so you are never left wondering how things went.

Who Senior Companion Care Is For

Families come to us at very different moments, but the need is usually one of these:

  • Older adults living alone who want regular company
  • Seniors who are independent but need a hand with errands and meals
  • Couples where one partner is caring for the other
  • Adult children supporting a parent from out of town
  • Families recovering after a hospital stay or a difficult season
  • Anyone who would benefit from a friendly, consistent presence each week

What a Visit Looks Like

Every plan at Nurse & Co. is built around your family, so no two visits look exactly the same. A typical visit begins with a friendly hello and a check-in on how the week has gone, then moves into whatever matters most that day — a walk, a meal, an errand, a tidy-up, or a good conversation.

Visits range from two hours to full days, from once a week to daily support. Senior companion care ranges from $30–$35 per hour, and customized packages are always available.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Our companion care is non-medical support — companionship, meals, errands, light housekeeping, transportation and respite. We do not provide nursing procedures, medication administration, or personal bathing and dressing. What we do bring is a Registered Nurse's understanding of older adults, which shapes how we notice and communicate changes in your loved one's wellbeing.

As often as your family needs, from a two-hour weekly visit to daily support. We build the schedule around your routines rather than asking you to fit into ours.

We aim for continuity, because relationships are the heart of good companion care. You will meet your caregiver before the first visit, and if a substitution is ever necessary we will tell you in advance.

Senior companion care ranges from $30–$35 per hour, depending on the length and frequency of visits. Customized packages are available, and we will always give you a clear quote before anything begins.
